Great news for Cultus Lake goers, residents and future owners; the long overdue Vedder Bridge replacement is moving forward!
The current bridge, built in 1947 doesn't meet today's flood standards or standard lane widths, and it doesn't lend itself to pedestrians using the Rotary Trail. The construction of the new bridge, beginning September 2016 completing October 2017, is an exciting improvement that will solve all these short falls. It will remain a single-lane bridge, but will be much wider allowing for multi-use pathways for pedestrians and cyclists. The project also includes a roundabout on the North side of the river, connecting Vedder Road and Chilliwack Lake Road with a free flowing intersection to keep traffic moving smoothly, especially during the high season at Cultus Lake.
We look forward to its commencement!
